Canada to Compete at World Cyber Games Pan-American Championship

Quebec – August 15, 2012– World Cyber Games (WCG) Canada is sending six cyber athletes to compete among the best in North, Central and South America at the WCG Pan-American Championship in Santiago, Chile from August 24 to 26, 2012.

The WCG Pan-American Championship is the only all-star e-Sport event held in the Americas. Cyber athletes from across the country will travel to Chile and try to position Canada as a leader in cyber gaming. A Counter-Strike 1.6 team will compete to win gold at the championship. This year’s team includes Kory Friesen (BC), Brennan Webster (BC), Garett Bambrough (ON), Thierry St-Jacques-Gagnon (QC) and Ryan Larsen (BC). Arnaud St-Jacques-Gagnon (QC) will compete for the FIFA 12 title.

“We are confident that Canada has a chance to win a medal at the Pan-American Championship”, said Thierry St-Jacques Gagnon, who is not only a member of the Counter-Strike team, but also the young CEO of WCG Canada. “This year, we are putting a lot of effort into raising awareness about e-Sports among young Canadians, and WCG Canada is also looking to recruit new talent to represent Canada at the WCG Grand Final in Kunshan, China in December 2012” added St-Jacques Gagnon.

Qualifications for the Canadian Final start in September 2012. Additional details will be communicated shortly.
