WCG Canada Online Qualifications are Completed!

With the week-end behind us, the WCG Canada online qualifications are now completed. WCG Canada is proud to have conduct its biggest online qualifier ever where over 300 players from across the country pre-registered for the event in one of the three games; Starcraft 2, CrossFire and FIFA 12. The tournament was action packed and the 60 000 live spectators who watched the different live streams during the week-end were entertained. In the end, only the very bests can claim the gold and all the bragging rights associated with their victory.

In the Starcraft 2 final, Henry “Hendralisk” Zheng ultimately had the upper hand on his opponent, Mkengyn. His run through the tournament was nearly perfect as he only dropped 2 maps in the whole event. Hendralisk is more motivated than ever and hope to win the Central regional final at the Toronto Eaton Center, October 19-21.

Another player that stood out to win its game this weekend was WCG Canada`s veteran Matt “Wizakor” Wood. The Ontario-based FIFA player managed to win the event getting a draw during group play to the Canadian FIFA 12 representative of the WCG Pan-Ams, Arnaud “Arnaud-Kaiser” St-Jacques-Gagnon. From that point in the tournament, Wood scored at least 5 goals against every other competitor, leaving little hopes to his final opponent, the Calgarian gamer Artem “Artzi” Bark.

As a proud sponsor of the World Cyber Games in Canada, Samsung Canada will cover the travelling expenses to the Toronto live event to both Zheng and Wood, enabling them to take a chance at winning the ultimate title of Canadian representative at the WCG Grand Finals in Kunshan, China.

Finally, the qualifications ended with the crowning of FG.Carnage as the Crossfire online champion.  Jordan He, Masood Riaz, Jamie Phongphilack, David Hyunh and Andrew Deng combined their efforts to win the tie-breaker match during the final stage and take the 1st place.  FVG.ca and WPA will also join FG.Carnage for the National Final event in Montreal, November 2-4, as the three teams are invited. This is the only event where Crossfire will be played and the teams will have to exchange fire with Canada’s returning champions, team LifeLine, currently looking to improve their 4th place at the 2011 Grand Finals.

WCG Canada would like to thank Samsung Canada, Z8Games, G4box, Twitch.TV, BinaryBeast, The Rewind, e-Sports Canada, casters from KillingSpree & LifeLine, and all the players who participated in the Online Qualifications.
